Stacey Pham 5/02/2021 12:02 AMIt's been over a year since we simply had picnic in a park. We forgot how nice it is to just sit on the lawn and enjoy the sun and the breeze and the fresh air.-
Victoria Tran 5/02/2021 8:23 PMIsn't it a odd and strange feeling to be at a park now? For about a year, no one was allowed to sit anywhere and everything was taped out. It certainly takes some time to return "back to normal".

Reflection QuestionFood Weekly Meal PlanningAn average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Does this surprise you? Where would you rather use this money?
-
Reflection QuestionFood Locally-Sourced MealsIf you were to only eat what is in season locally, what would be the hardest for you to give up?
-
Victoria Tran 5/02/2021 8:24 PMIsn't dairy always in season?

Reflection QuestionHealth Eliminate Toxic PlasticsWhat single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?
Stacey Pham 5/01/2021 11:51 PMOur kids use plastic straws a lot. Paper straws get soggy too quickly. We now try stainless steel straws. It is a bit more work to wash but we like it. -
Stacey Pham 5/01/2021 11:45 PMOur family went to Sunnyvale farmers market today and it was nice. All the fresh choices of fruits and veggies... The strawberries were super sweet. -
Reflection QuestionNature Leave No TraceEducator Stephanie Kaza advises her students to focus on what they care about most when addressing the enormity of ecological problems. Is there a specific area you feel particularly called to work on?
-
Stacey Pham 5/01/2021 11:37 PMThe weather has been strange. It can get quite warm during the day but quickly becomes chilly after 6pm. Global warming ? -
Reflection QuestionEnergy Replace Manual ThermostatsHow do you anticipate replacing your thermostats for programmable ones will positively impact your life?
Stacey Pham 4/30/2021 9:47 AMWe can control what temp and when we need to run the heater or A/C without over doing it-
Victoria Tran 5/01/2021 5:59 PMAgree with Swee Hor! We installed a roof fan years ago and it's been an energy saver. San Jose usually has cooler evenings, and we would turn that on in the summer to pull in the cool air to cool the house without using AC. -
Swee Hor Teh 4/30/2021 10:30 AMUsing a portable fan, and get air circulating where you are helps too :)

Reflection QuestionFood Try a New Way to PrepCanning and pickling food is a great way to have delicious summer fruits and vegetables all year round. Just make sure to follow the canning and pickling guidelines from the USDA. What are some foods that you would like to preserve and enjoy later in the year?
-
Swee Hor Teh 4/30/2021 10:29 AMJust steaming and eat the vegetable to get its natural taste is another way to go
